Excuse Me, Urban Burp?

Well I was doing some blog surfing around Pittsburgh and caught a post about fabric store in San Francisco. So I decided to see who else was blogging vintage fabric today. I found this post which pointed me to Apartment Therapy’s post on Urban Burp - that is one interesting name for a fabric shop. Urban Burp is a fabric shop in San Francisco that carries rare vintage fabrics. I am going to put this on my list of places to visit in San Francisco. I can’t find a website for Urban Burp but they have some nice reviews on Yelp. I would love to hear the story behind the name Urban Burp.

Hmmm…I also wouldn’t mind hearing how that store name was conceived. It is memorable! Too bad no website–I’d love to take a peek at the fabric.

A friend was in the store yesterday (July 20, 2008 for the record) and here’s her report: I was looking at a fabric and remarked to the owner, “This looks just like the curtains my mother had in the living room when I was a kid.”
Owner: “That’s a burp. When something is jogged out of your memory.”

My name is Electra and I want to thank all you ladies & guys for your input and in making it possible for me to open this shop. When I started collecting it was so hard to find anything. This prompted me to create a place where everyone from quilters to designer’s could find lots of interesting textiles, in good condition, in one place.
