Notorius Knitting: I always go swimming in my sweater…

This blog absolutely makes my day - The Museum of Kitschey Stitches: A Gallery of Notorious Knits (The song NO, NO, NO, NOTORIOUS is running through my head as I write this).  Stitchy McYarnpants writes this amazing blog and features some glorious photos of knitted creations like this one…

Blogger Yarni Gras agrees with me on this picture…

“Hey…lets go to the pool….but first, I need my SWEATER…”

This The Museum was also featured on the blog CrapWeLike - which is an awesome name for a blog and has a great collection of great stuff.

Excuse Me, Urban Burp?

Well I was doing some blog surfing around Pittsburgh and caught a post about fabric store in San Francisco.  So I decided to see who else was blogging vintage fabric today. I found this post which pointed me to Apartment Therapy’s post on Urban Burp - that is one interesting name for a fabric shop.  Urban Burp is a fabric shop in San Francisco that carries rare vintage fabrics.  I am going to put this on my list of places to visit in San Francisco.  I can’t find a website for Urban Burp but they have some nice reviews on Yelp.  I would love to hear the story behind the name Urban Burp.

Totally Tubular - What do you do with a tube of fabric?

We have just added a most interesting find to the shop - a few yards of a seamless knit tube in a black and white herringbone print. We have done some searching but can’t seem to find out where one buys tubular fabric. What do you make with tubular fabric - it is perfect for a knit dress. Has anyone ever seen a pattern for a tube of fabric?

Real Retro vs. Faux Retro

Real Retro vs. Faux Retro

I snapped this picture at Urban Outfitters a few weeks ago. These pillows
and blankets remind me of some of the fabrics in out shop. I really like
the mix of colors and black and white prints. Why buy fake retro when you
can make your own with real vintage fabric.

Super Selvedge Usage

I really love this scarf. We have been working extra hard to find fabrics with a selvage because we like to research the history of the fabrics. This was posted on Craft today and is a really great idea. I like the bag too.
Selvedge Scarf SelvedgeScarf.jpg Jodie from RicRac has been collecting her selvedge scraps for a long time and the results are well worth it--she's made a bag out of them in the past (which we featured here), and now she's back with this beautiful scarf! I love the idea of not letting a single scrap of fabric go to waste, especially when the end result is so unique.
